Public Transport the Best Option for Luke Combs concertgoers
With more than 160,000 fans expected over both concert nights on Friday 31 January and Saturday 1 February, ticketholders are urged to leave the car at home and catch public transport to avoid getting caught in traffic delays.
Transport for NSW Coordinator-General Howard Collins said with the cost of travel already included in your concert ticket, public transport is the easiest way to get to and from the precinct – simply show your concert ticket to transport staff when boarding services.
“Hundreds of extra trains and buses will run to Sydney Olympic Park, and the cost of travel is already included in your concert ticket, all you need to do is show your concert ticket to transport staff when boarding services,” Mr Collins said.
“Express and limited-stop trains will run frequently from Central and Western Line stations to Olympic Park on concert days, with frequent return services after each show. From Olympic Park station, the stadium is a short 10-minute walk away.”
Major Event Buses will run frequently on all nine routes from mid-afternoon each day, along with frequent buses after the show each night.
- on Friday, services will run from 3.12pm until 7.03pm, depending on the route.
- on Saturday, services will run from 3.34pm until 7.08pm, depending on the route.
- return buses will run frequently after the show, last buses leave at midnight each night.
“We anticipate there will be some heavy peak hour traffic across the network on Friday evening, if you do choose to drive, please plan your trip and leave home early,” Mr Colins said.
“On Friday, fans travelling from the Central Coast & Newcastle Line should allow extra travel time as trains from 5.15pm to 8.40pm will end at Hornsby. Fans will need to change to get a train to Strathfield to connect with express trains to Olympic Park.
As well, T2 Inner West line trains from 4.40pm to 11pm will end at Homebush instead of Parramatta, fans will need to change at Strathfield for express trains to Olympic Park.
“Concertgoers travelling from the regions are encouraged to connect with transport services to continue travel into Olympic Park if they want to avoid significant traffic delays.”
Mr Collins said due to planned maintenance, buses will replace metro services between Tallawong and Chatswood on Saturday so make sure you allow plenty of extra travel time.
“A number of train stations have large commuter car parks available, or you can connect with Major Event Buses running directly to Olympic Park at several Metro North West stations.
“If you must drive, it is essential that you pre-book parking ahead of time as spaces are expected to sell out. Carpool with your group and allow plenty of extra travel time as significant traffic delays are expected on roads approaching the precinct and entering car parks.”
