Advice for passengers and road users across Sydney this weekend - From Friday 31 Jan

Motorists and passengers are advised of changed traffic and travel conditions across Greater Sydney due to maintenance, project works and major events. 

Sydney Harbour Bridge 

Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:  

  • Friday 31 January: 9.30pm – 6am (five lanes)  

  • Saturday 1 February: 9.30pm – 6am (five lanes) 

  • Sunday 2 February: 9pm – 5am (three lanes) 

  • Monday 3 February: 9pm – 5am (three lanes) 

  • Tuesday 4 February: 9pm – 5am (one lane)  

  • Wednesday 5 February: 9pm – 5am (one lane)  

  • Thursday 6 February: 9.30pm – 5am (one lane) 

Motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route, noting the tunnel closures below.

Sydney Harbour Tunnel 

Motorists are advised that the Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be partially or fully closed at certain times over the next week. 

  • Sunday 2 February: 10.30pm – 5am (both southbound lanes) 

  • Monday 3 February: 10.30pm – 5am (both southbound lanes) 

  • Tuesday 4 February: 10.30pm – 5am (both northbound lanes) and 10pm – 5am (both southbound lanes) 

  • Wednesday 5 February: 10.30pm – 5am (both northbound lanes) and 10pm – 5am (both southbound lanes) 

  • Thursday 6 February: 10.30pm – 5am (both northbound lanes) and 10pm – 5am (both southbound lanes) 

 

Domain Tunnel 

Motorists are advised that the Domain Tunnel will be partially closed for maintenance on Monday 3 February from 11pm – 5am (both southbound lanes). 

 

Warringah Freeway Upgrade  

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway, including: 

  • Arthur Street northbound off ramp from Bradfield Highway between Pacific Highway and High Street is closed until 5am Monday 3 February 2025. Detour via Pacific Highway, Berry Street, Walker Street and Pacific Highway eastbound for access to Arthur Street and High Street. 

  • Ernest Street (west) on and off ramp is closed until mid-February. Use northbound off ramps at Falcon Street (eastern) and Miller Street instead. Use southbound on ramp on eastern side of the Ernest Street bridge.

Essential Trackwork  

  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line – Buses and Metro services replace trains between Sydenham and Central. Trains run between Cronulla or Waterfall and Sydenham, and between Central and Bondi Junction.   

  • T8 Airport & South Line – Buses replace trains between Sydenham and Central. Trains run between Macarthur, Revesby and the City via the Airport. Metro services run between Sydenham and the City.  

  • Hunter Line – On Saturday from 8.50pm to 3.30am, buses replace some trains between Telarah and Newcastle Interchange.  

  • South Coast Line – Trains run between South Coast Line stations and Hurstville only.   

Trains may run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Passengers are encouraged to allow extra time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info/alerts or using trip planning apps. 

 

Metro 

On Saturday 1 February and Sunday 2 February, buses replace Metro services between Tallawong and Chatswood. Extra Metro services will run between Chatswood and Sydenham due to train trackwork on the T4 Illawarra Line. 

 

Major Events 
 

Luke Combs: With around 160,000 fans expected at Accor Stadium over both concert nights tonight, Friday 31 January and tomorrow Saturday 1 February, ticketholders are urged to leave the car at home and catch public transport to avoid getting caught in traffic delays. 

Hundreds of additional trains and buses will run to Olympic Park both nights. With the cost of travel already included in your concert ticket, public transport is the easiest way to get there – simply show your Luke Combs concert ticket to Transport staff when boarding services.  

Please note that tonight, T2 Inner West Line trains and Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains will run to a changed stopping pattern, fans will need to change trains to continue trips towards Olympic Park. Allow extra travel time and plan ahead. 

Pre-booked parking at Olympic Park car parks has sold out for both nights. Fans who have not pre-booked should leave the car at home and catch transport, or drive to a nearby commuter carpark and continue to Olympic Park by train or bus. Click here for more travel advice. 

 

Sun Run: around 9,000 participants will take part in the 7km or 10km fun run events from Dee Why to Manly early this Sunday 2 February. Road closures and clearways will be in effect along and around the course from 3.30am - 10am. Participants are encouraged to catch transport with dedicated free event shuttle buses and additional services. Click here for details. 

 

Lunar New Year events: Thousands of people are expected to attend Lunar New Year events in Haymarket and Hurstville on Saturday 1 February. Changed traffic conditions including road closures and clearways will be in place, and buses will be affected.
